MY SKILLS
Tricks of the Trade

SOLIDWORKS
This is a solid modeling computer-aided design and computer-aided engineering computer program. It helps in designing 3D drawings of our systems. I've also used Autodesk Inventor and Catia.

AUTOCAD
This is a computer-aided design and drafting software application. Most of my 2D work is done in Autocad. It is the industry standard for making Process Flow Diagrams and P&IDs

MATLAB
This is a numerical computing environment. Its strongest feature is the ability to solve complex matrix manipulations. I once programmed a Tic-Tac-Toe AI to play against other students in my 2.086 class. It won 48-2-0. HOW?!?

ENGINEERING EQUATION SOLVER
EES (pronounced 'ease') is a general equation-solving program that can numerically solve thousands of coupled non-linear algebraic and differential equations. A major feature of EES is the high accuracy thermodynamic and transport property database that is provided for hundreds of substances in a manner that allows it to be used with the equation solving capability. This program is used for many of Gradiant's Thermal based computational designs.

CNC MILLING
CNC milling, or computer numerical control milling, is a machining process which employs computerized controls and rotating multi-point cutting tools to progressively remove material from the workpiece and produce a custom-designed part or product. I've spend hours squaring off blocks of aluminum on a mill.

LASERCUTTING
This is a technology that uses a laser to slice materials, similar to a waterjet. It is my go-to equipment when I don't have $100k to spend on equipment.

TIG WELDING
This is an arc welding process that uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode to produce the weld. I love to weld aluminum and stainless steel this way. I was never any good at stick welding though.
